The amount of sand in 1 lb. varies a little from color to color because of the weight of the different colorants. You can count on each pound containing approx. 1-1/2 cups of sand. You should measure the capacity of your container in order to figure out how many pounds you need.
If you are filling a large area such as a sand box, you can use the converter at Online Conversion to find out how much sand you'll need. First you'll need to figure out how many cubic inches you want to fill. To do this multiply the width in inches by the length in inches by the height in inches.
Example - you have an 8' x 8' x 5" sandbox. You'll multiply 96x96x5 = 46,080 cubic inches. Then using the online converter enter 46,080 and select "cubic inch" in the left column and "cups(US)" in the right column and click "convert". This will show you need 3,191 cups of sand to fill the sand box. Since our sand contains approx. 1-1/2 cups per lb., you'll divide 3,191 by 1.5 = 2,127 pounds of sand.
We view our colors on 3 different monitors, all of which vary a bit. On 2 monitors they appear a little darker than they actually are, and on the other monitor they appear very close, and some are right on. So the answer is: It depends on the monitor. If you need a close match, please take advantage of our samples offer so you can make an accurate comparison before ordering larger quantities. At this time we are trying to match most of the David Bridal colors. However, some of them are so similar that we will offer only one color to match a range of DB colors. Some DB colors are too bright for us to match at this time.
